This hand-carved linoleum block print series was built from a personal collection of pressed flowers, plants and leaves.
This Chestnut specimen was collected in Montreal in May 2023 and carved during a residency in Copenhagen in 2024. The American chestnut (Castanea dentata) was once one of the dominant tree species in the eastern forests of North America. However, in the early 20th century, the species was nearly wiped out by the chestnut blight, a fungal disease (Cryphonectria parasitica) that was introduced accidentally from Asia. Through conservation efforts and genetic engineering is it slowing re-entering our ecosystem. This is a very special specimen.
It is printed to order on beige pacon paper with linseed oil inks in tones of burgundy and rose and measures 45cm x 30cm.
